Replacement air filter

Your BMW's air filter is intended to clean the air entering the intake before entering the engine. Throughout thousands of hours of operation, the air filter can become clogged up by dust and other debris, significantly decreasing airflow into the engine. In addition, a clogged air filter can also allow smaller particles through into the engine causing additional wear and tear. This OE replacement filter will drop into place and fit like the original.

Replacing your air filter is cheap maintenance and can even help improve performance. The air filter in your M3 should be replaced at regular intervals. This air filter cleans roughly 9000 gallons of air for every gallon of gasoline your engine burns.

Engine Air Filter

An engine air filter is a critical component of a vehicle's intake system, allowing clean fresh outside air to enter the combustion chamber and prevent dust, dirt, and other contaminants from entering the engine. Your engine's air filter sits within the air intake box and traps particles as air flows into the engine. Engine Air Filter Failure Symptoms

  • Age: Over time, the materials in the air filter can degrade, losing their ability to filter out contaminants effectively. An old air filter may become brittle and prone to tearing. It is recommended to inspect your engine air filter every 15 - 30,000 miles
  • Decreased Fuel Efficiency: When the air filter is blocked, the engine struggles to get the proper air-fuel mixture, causing it to burn more fuel to compensate, resulting in reduced fuel efficiency and reduced performance
  • Misfire: Inadequate airflow can lead to incomplete combustion, causing the engine to misfire, which might cause hesitation or weak power build-up under load.
