BimmerWorld Rear Quarter Window Popout Delete Kit - E46 Coupe
This kit provides a mounting solution to retain the factory glass quarter windows when you delete the window motors on E46 coupes converted to fulltime track / race cars. This includes the 323ci, 325ci, 328ci, 330ci, and M3 (coupe models only). You can remove the motors and arms used to open the window but still keep the factory glass (our preference over polycarbonate).
Motorized windows are useless on a racing car, especially in the back quarter windows. It's easy to remove the motors and wiring to save weight and reduce complexity. But this leaves you with no way to secure the window in place. Our kit includes the hardware and brackets to secure the window to the car. Drill holes into the window lip for our rivet-on plates, then our hardware attaches with a nutplate so window removal is an easy one-person job. We set the depth of the window to factory alignment without the need for the factory window seal (a further weight reduction).
Our preference is to keep the factory quarter window glass. It's easy to clean, is not susceptible to scratches and dust-attracting static, and provides clearer sight than polycarbonate. The weight savings with poly is negligible compared to our kit with factory glass. Plus our kit is easier to install and there's no fabrication involved.
